THE SUNDAY ROAST GUIDE

UPDATED 20 JUN 2023

Over our years of food writing and reviewing, we’ve been honoured enough to eat some of the most magnificent roast dinners. It’s only fair that we get to share them with you in a comprehensive list. Whether you’re looking for a cosy country pub or a Sunday’s poshest and finest, we’ll have something for everyone.

THE COAST, PRESTBURY

Prestbury Village, Prestbury, SK10 4DG

This Grade Listed building is Prestbury’s not-so-secret hidden gem. This laid-back slice of the Amalfi Coast is the perfect hideaway filled with candlelight and cosy vibes. The Roast at The Coast is sure to impress.

THE GROVE, WILMSLOW

70 - 72 Grove St, Wilmslow SK9 1DS

A medieval-inspired tavern with a Cheshire's heart. Found slap bang in the middle of Wilmslow, The Grove has a unique look, the likes of which we’ve never seen before - Think Alice in Wonderland buys a ski lodge with the Queen’s money, and you’ll get The Grove. Perhaps the food is more surprising than the interior - their Lamb Roast is out of this world.

OPERA GRILL, CHESTER

3 Pepper St, Chester CH1 1DF

Another Iconic Cheshire building enters the list - Opera Grill in Chester. We were invited to try their Sunday Set Menu following their recent renovation, and I must admit, it’s left a lasting mark. If you like dressing up and feeling good when you go out for a Sunday roast, you’ll want to try this one.

If quantity and value for money are high on your Wishlist, look no further than the Jolly Thresher in Lymm. Their showstopping share platter is an actual thing of beauty. We’ve petitioned for it to be on the UNESCO World Heritage Sight!
