Juniper: Cheshire's newest hotspot
Chic. Showstopping. Scrumptious. These are just a few of the words we would use to describe Wilmslow’s newest hotspot.
Juniper, the brasserie giants, have answered our prayers and opened their third space right in the beating heart of Wilmslow. Lucky for us, it’s a 5-minute walk from our house and we couldn’t be happier about it.
Up until now, we have been frequent visitors of Juniper in Hale. So when we heard of the Wilmslow branch opening we knew we would be in for a treat, but we could not have predicted just how big of a treat it would be. When someone tells you they had “the best breakfast in their life” here you know you have to check it out.
Juniper have truly raised the bar with this space. Their interiors are stunning! Trés trés Chic! From marble tabletops and copper accents to the most majestic and beautiful flower installation on their ceiling. It’s truly a feast for the eyes (and the gram). The front terrace is bathed in light from sunup ‘til sundown so no matter what time of day you visit, you can enjoy your time here in the sun (British weather permitting, of course).
As we sat waiting for our food, we could literally hear how impressed the other guests were. Their symphony of ooo-ing and ahh-ing carried across the terrace to my rumbling stomach.
Juniper is known for being the best in the biz for breakfasts, brunch and lunch, however, the Wilmslow branch has taken steps toward evening dining. We decided we would put them to the test and check out their evening menu.
Being the absolute health mecca that it is, Juniper doesn’t serve alcohol, so we started our evening dinner with a couple of mocktails to get us going. The Zero G&T and Pink Panther were the drinks of choice. The Zero G&T is the perfect tipple for a warm evening on the terrace - tonic and botanicals including juniper, Inca, cardamom, pineapple, papaya, coriander and lemon. I on the other hand decided I would opt for a drink fruiter than me (if you can believe). The Pink Panther is full of pineapple, strawberries and coconut, topped with whipped cream and garnished with Pineapple and a strawberry. A great palette teaser.
Monday was a beautifully sunny day, so we were really feeling that summer vibe and tried ordering something a little healthy (a little birdy told me we eat and show too many chips on our travels – I didn’t even know you could have too many chips?).
Juniper’s menu is light, fresh and seasonal. Plenty to choose from, each dish sounds as exquisite as the next. My eyes took a b-line for the tiger prawn linguine. Cooked in chillies, plenty of garlic butter, lemon and coriander. Okay. Doesn’t sound like the healthiest meal when I write this, but it totally tasted healthy and not a chip in sight.
Jamie followed suit and immediately picked the Soy Salmon. The salmon fillet literally glistened in the sun. Coated in chilli and soy, proudly popped on top of the accompanying tender-stem broccoli and stir-fried greens. A perfectly crisp skin and flavoursome fillet. There were plenty of “oh my gods” coming from his direction to let me know just how good it is.
This is where our story finishes – we decided we would continue on our newfound health kick and didn’t attempt a dessert… I can assure you though, this will not be the last you see of Juniper on our feed. We will be going back for breakfast… and brunch… and lunch... probably again for dinner too… We could not be more excited about it.
If we haven’t said it enough already, we’re so happy for the Juniper team and their new adventure in Wilmslow. I’m sure you’ll all join us in wishing them all the success in the world.
