The King William: Music to our Ears!

Not only does The King William in Wilmslow serve great food and provide boutique accommodation but it now hosts live music sessions on a Thursday night. We were invited down to have a listen and a bite to eat last week.

The King William, if you haven’t already read our last review, has just been given a glow up like no other. Its intimate interior space is comfortable and welcoming. There are nooks and crannies all over to give a real pub vibe. Before long you’ll be sipping your drink, nibbling some food and losing all track of time as you sway in your seats to the music.

We were in luck to be invited when Clare Sophia was performing. An absolute powerhouse and veteran in the industry. She has performed at Glastonbury with Stormzy, on the BBC with Rita Ora and generates over 180,000 streams monthly on Spotify. Safe to say she knows what she’s doing and was ready to give us all a performance we won’t be forgetting.

Accompanied by her guitarist, Callum, Clare was effortlessly able to deliver a beautiful acoustic session of our faves. We were treated to a session of familiar songs that we all know the words to, so we could all attempt to sing along with a mouthful of food!

Speaking of food; The King William seems to be going from strength to strength in the kitchen. They have a small plates menu featuring the best of British, dishes from around the world and veggie options. They have an elevated pub menu with their signatures (from the Drum) sticky beef making an appearance.

We had the special, Garlic & Rosemary Chicken in a wild mushroom sauce with sautéed potatoes and green beans and The Greek salad with a side of skinny fries. All of which were beautifully cooked generously portioned and made us enjoy our music session even more. We love food and we love music so combining the two is a match made in heaven.

The performances change on a weekly basis, so you’ll have to check The King William social pages to see who’s on the line-up that week. If you’re a budding or established singer yourself and would like to be involved they’d love to hear from you too. This is not an open mic night or karaoke session, so only the talented need to apply…
