We're tongue Thai’d again!

This week we took a trip to Bramhall to visit our favourite Thai Food restaurant – Noks Thai Street Food. The first time we were introduced to Noks incredible food was back in 2019 when we first started our foodie travels. We’re beyond happy to be able to work with this amazing team once again! They’ve gone from strength to strength since then and are still as tasty as ever (perhaps even more so now?).

Since our last visit, there have been some noticeable changes… A rebrand has recently been completed. A new name, new signage, new brand colours, a new condensed menu and a reawakened sense of freedom and creativity.

It’s very clear to see and feel the love and passion that pours from Nok & Steven straight into their dishes. From concept to execution, it feels flawless and effortless. Their love of food shines through onto your plate.

The love for all things Thai & food doesn’t end with the owners. From the kitchen team to the front of house team, you can tell they all love it. The enthusiasm and excitement from the front of house manager Reece is infectious. Reece is an example of someone born for hospitality and absolutely loves everything about it. He’s someone that will make you feel at home in front of foreign cuisine. He’s knowledgeable, friendly and is determined to deliver a good experience.

We’re lucky enough to work very closely with this awesome team. We can tell you from first-hand experience they are constantly evolving the menu, stretching boundaries and questioning the norms of Thai cuisine. “Does this go with that?” “What if we change this sauce to that sauce” “What else can you find in Thailand that we need to have on our menu?”. It makes our job so much fun to connect with other food lovers! You’ll also need to stay tuned for Lost in Bangkok... Not even joking.

Ok, so onto the food. As I’m sure you can imagine by now, we ordered an absolute banquet of food. There were three of us this time, so don’t judge too much. We had…

KOW GIAP GUNG - Thai prawn crackers. Obviously needed these.

PO PIA PET - Duck spring rolls – Needed these too

SATAY GAI – Chicken Skewers with peanut sauce and cucumber pickle – As with any Thai meal, this was also a need. The cucumber pickle was too much for our friend to handle. She loved it so much it ended up on basically all her food.

GUNG POW - Grilled king prawns on skewers served with lime, garlic, and chilli dipping sauce.

PAD THAI - Thailand’s Street Food Dish – An absolute staple of Thai food... It’s in the name. This Pad Thai brings crowds in from waaaay outside of Bramhall. We can see why! It’s beautiful

GOYTEOW PAD KIMOW - A Nok’s Favourite (also my favourite) – Drunken Noodles. Soft rice noodles with chicken, egg, chilli, veg, deep and rich sauces, and then topped with holy basil!

KOW PAD – A new dish for me – A wok-fried rice dish with egg, tomato, onions, light & dark soy and the biggest juiciest prawns.

PENANG – Cooked Southern-style – We chose the flavoursome chicken curry. Cooked with coconut milk Thai red chillies, kaffir leaf and tomato.

MASSAMAN – Another favourite of mine. I could literally eat this for the rest of my life. Not even kidding. Rich and thick sauce that is so sweet and spicy. Baby potatoes and thick cuts of beef hidden inside. Topped with crispy shallots for a little crunch. Perfection.

Moochi Ice-Cream – Yep. They sell LITTLE MOONS! The TikTok sensation – we picked a flavour each; Mango, Chocolate & Strawberry Cheesecake!!

I cannot sit here and tell you which dishes you should try because they are all genuinely amazing. Truly is the best Thai food we have eaten. We live in Wilmslow but travel on a regular occasion to Nok’s Thai in Bramhall. It is worth the short journey and we’ve never been disappointed.

Not only does Nok give you classic Thai and Thai street food, but she draws upon her heritage and uses her local dishes to show you a new side to Thai food – Currently on the specials board, you’ll find a dish from the North of Thailand, Hang Lay Moo. Arguably one of the most iconic dishes of Noks hometown. It's a slow-cooked pork loin curry. Tender, fall apart in your mouth flavoursome pieces of pork! It does not stop there. They also have Kanom Pang Na Gung - Handmade crispy prawn and pork toast. Accompanied with a homemade plum dipping sauce. Yum!

You’ll often find in Thailand that you’re able to bring your own drinks into restaurants. This is a tradition all over Thailand. So, as you are probably guessing, such as the tradition at Noks. You’re able to bring your own alcohol if you like… or simply sip on a Singha beer or Cocktail (or two?).

If I haven’t already convinced you to get your table booked, what if I told you children are able to eat for half price. Yep, it’s true. Thai communities are heavily centred around family and having fun together, so Nok & Steven want the same for their restaurant. Bring the whole family – including the children and they will be treated to a half-price meal.

As I am sure you can tell we had quite the battle to finish this gargantuan meal, but we conquered it. As we sat talking about favourite dishes and chatting with Reece, all our eyelids started to drop. Slowly slipping into a victory sleep at the table. So, this is where I’ll end today’s story.
